Distance Learning

Hello Cub Nation!

While our students are out of school for the next two weeks, it is important that they continue learning. Our Elementary Specialists have compiled meaningful learning activities in core content areas (reading, math, science, and social studies) to help maintain our students’ learning. Today, our teachers shared directions with our students about these learning activities. They have been compiled in a packet, which will be sent home in our stingers’ backpacks.

Grades K-1 Distance Learning Packet

Grades 2-3 Distance Learning Packet

Grades 4-5 Distance Learning Packet

On the top of the packet is a letter explaining to families about distance learning. Please check for these items in your child’s backpack. If your child was not at school today you are welcome to pick up the paper copies of packets at school on Monday, March 16th from 7 am to 4 pm..

It is expected that students are to return the following from this Distance Learning packet:

• Performance Task project

• Choice Board Document (indicating which learning experiences they completed during their distance learning experience)

The county also has provided additional online resources to enhance their distance learning experience, which you can access on this Distance Learning Website.

On this site, you will find additional explanation of distance learning, access to the non-digital packets, and the letter to families. At the bottom of the home screen, you will find grade-level specific tabs and a resources tab for additional online learning activities.

(Please contact your child’s teacher if you are unable to access their appropriate Distance Learning Packet.

Also, all students who attended school today visited the library to get a total of 5 books to read during their distance learning time. Feel free to ask them about what they are reading as well as ask about the characters, setting, problem, solution, and sequence of information.

Here are two additional announcements:

Keep in mind that the Festival for the Arts scheduled to be at Deep Run High School this Saturday has been postponed to Saturday, May 2nd. Stay tuned for more information.

Finally, summer school registration packets went home but are also available for viewing on this site. If your child was not here today to receive a hard copy of the brochure, you can pick it up in the main office on Monday, March 16th from 7 am to 4 pm.

In partnership,

Mr. Schatz
